Jack Jack’s Coffee House owner Mike Sparacino has graciously offered his charming  Café for a monthly poetry reading and open mike. A featured, experienced poet will present their poems for 25 minutes every FIRST THURSDAY of the month from 7:30 – 9:30 PM.

After a short break, guests may read two poems during the open mike. One poem should be their writing, and the second poem by a well-known poet like Emily Dickinson. the cafe is located at 223 Deer Park Avenue, close to the LIRR Train Station.


The space is comfortable, has many choices of coffee and snacks, and comfortable seating.  Those who are not poet fans are in for a surprise. They will hear poems that are simple enough to understand and enjoyable to hear.  Poetry offers us fresh language, emotion, humor, current events, personal experience. This is a chance to overcome your opinion of poetry. There are always other poets in attendance and we are all friendly. You will meet amazing, interesting people.

This event is Called Spoken Word. Fliers are posted  in local businesses and the event is advertised in the Babylon Beacon weekly newspaper.

The Babylon Village Arts Council sponsors this program as one of its several cultural events including music concerts and art exhibits, classical music at the Babylon Library,Rotational Art Program, summer concert at the Conklin House, art workshops, art partnership program, and a creative dramatics workshop .
