Women in white dancing
Long, light, fleecy gowns
Twirls, swirls,
Spins, and swings
In a dim basement
We watch from the sidelines
They float in space
Flakes in a snow shower
Dancing on a dark floor
A dozen of them
A ballet of white
Rising and falling
I in white stockings
Graceful, flying
A mirage, a dream
Float, and join, and part

They are water, air,
Solid molecules
Heated and quivering
Orbiting planets
And their revolving moons

Feathers in wind
leap with them

They bring me back
To the beginning of time
We are particles bursting
From the Big Bang
Shot into space
Looking for attraction

I find myself
Part of them
We are particles
Attracted to one another
We become into nuclei, then atoms,
Evolved compounds
We are stars, then galaxies,
A solar system

They speak with their bodies
Freedom, Creativity, Joy
All from a single beginning
To one sacred community

A flash goes off in the hall
The dance ends
The women drift off stage
Dresses and arms limp

In the space they left
Their after images remain
Dancing women in white
